Bandelier National Monument is a fascinating site with human settlements dating back to around 11,000 years ago. The 1.2-mile Main Loop Trail provides an excellent introduction to the park's main ruins and history, passing by structures such as Big Kiva and the Tyuonyi ruins. Visitors can climb ladders to explore caves carved into the soft volcanic rock and access old structures.

Great tourist spot for scenic views and a mild hike depending on your level of fitness. I found the hike very easy and full of historical relics that paid homage to the Pueblo people. The drive from Santa Fe provides elevation and mountain views also good vantage points for views into valleys.

Bandelier was a good self guided trip to see some cliff dwellings. Most of the smaller loop is paved with some stairs to get up to the Dwellings and then a ladder to get into them. Good for the whole family. Snack bar food was surprisingly good.

Eric P — Google review

Beautiful place, the dwellings are incredible, and the view of the valley is breathtaking. Many different trails to choose from, Pueblo loop trail could be crowded. Parking is limited. The visitor center offers a lot of information about the area, there is a gift shop and restaurant available. No dogs allowed in the buildings and on the trails.

Kaja S — Google review

I had a great time touring Bandelier National Monument. All the views of the cliffs and rock formations are breathtaking. The Pueblos lived here between 1150 and 1550 and certainly left their mark. I walked the main loop and saw a few small kivas, remnants of walls from Pueblo homes, and giant rock cliffs that went up into the cliff dwellings. There were stairs that went up the side of the cliff with ladders that one could climb into the cave dwellings. These dwellings were so small that one has to constantly duck when walking through them. There were remnants of several stone houses against the cliff, which are referred to as the “long house”. Later on the trail, there were small paintings on the cliff with glass added to protect them. I saw so much on this trail that takes less than an hour to hike. If you want a beautiful and historic brief hike, Bandelier is the place to visit.

Frenite — Google review

The cliff dwellings were an absolute amazing sight, and a once in a lifetime experience for me and my husband. We ate lunch at the restaurant in the visitor center, went through the museum, and watched the short movie before we started the hike.

Julie M — Google review

Breathtaking views as we visited the cliff dwellings of ancestral Pueblo people. We stopped at the visitor’s center first to get a helpful guidebook.Definitely do the main loop trail (an easy 45 minute walk). The good news for many is the first part of trail is wheelchair and stroller accessible. If you are there in the evening you may be able to catch the “full moon” ranger walk.Other more difficult trails are 5-12 miles- far more rigorous than the main - but SO worth it. The scenery is incredible. We climbed the ladders to enter the cliff dwelling- completely fascinating.Bring sunscreen and a hat with a strap if windy.

Janna K — Google review

Such a cool monument! The kiva reconstruction is neat to check out, but it's a great place to get the scope of settlements. Despite the 2013 flood, the walks remain lovely thanks to dedicated effort by park service to keep trails accessible.

Matthew V — Google review

Loved this place! Very peaceful and quiet to visit in December, lots of information available about the two volcanic eruptions that deposited up to 1000 feet of ash that became the sheer'-faced walls that housed ancient cultures. The Caldera area about 50 minutes away was a great companion site to visit as the location of the volcanos whose eruptions formed the cliffs of Bandelier. Check out the carvings in one of the posted photos!

Monument

Nature & Parks

Kasha-Katuwe Tent Rocks National Monument is a vast geological park with cone-shaped tent rock formations and hiking trails that offer an opportunity to observe wildlife. The slot canyons within the monument are a sight to behold, with uniquely shaped rock formations that will leave visitors in awe. Nearby attractions include Cochiti Lake and Bandelier National Monument, which features ancient cliff dwellings and hiking trails.

Absolutely amazing place. Definitely must see. Make sure to purchase both tickets that are required for the visit, both are easy to purchase online. While it seemed that there are “only” two hikes we ended up spending most of the day there.

Astunningandbeautifularea-so glad it reopened! The staff was friendly, the area and facilities were clean and well maintained. And of course the scenery is simply beyond words while walking the slot canyon trail. Highly recommend!

Jojy — Google review

Perfect timing that Tent Rocks has reopened for February. Plan accordingly, in recreation.gov , there’s no reservation available for Tuesday and Wednesday. It’s a must to purchase reservation and purple heart pass, the fee has increased but it’s worth it! The process of getting in was so organized. All information is in recreation.govPls be respectful, no video taping or recording while following the pilot car and passing by the Cochiti pueblo. Ample of parking space in gravel. Recommend to do the slot canyon trail first then the cave loop trail. So rewarding squeezing the slot canyons and hiking all the way on top of the mesa. After which, visit the memorial overlook , gravel/dirt road, passable even with sedan on dry condition

Malak A — Google review

Amazing experience! Beautiful views and perfectly kept trails and facilities. All of the staff was very kind and helpful.

Emmanuel A — Google review

Tent Rocks is now open! This is great news! My family hiked there over the weekend. The views are beautiful and the road to get there is paved now. Porta potties on site are nicer than they were years ago. There is nice parking with picnic tables available to eat picnic food. You do need to carry in your own water and there are no snacks available on site. There is a convenience store as well as the Cochiti Visitor's Center nearby which does carry a few snacks. The shorter cave loop trail is an easy 1.2 miles, but is too sandy for a wheelchair. The slot canyon trail is moderately difficult with some slippery areas and some very narrow areas in the slot canyon. My family and I hiked it without problem until the end, which has a steep climb with some loose large rocks. This last part leads to an overlook which is breathtaking, but not necessary if you feel uncomfortable with it. My 20 year old daughters climbed up, but my husband and I did not do so. We still enjoyed it, nonetheless, and enjoyed the unique scenery. This trail is a "one way in and out" so you can't get lost and you return to the exact spot where you started out. We all wore tennis shoes and did fine with these, but hiking boots with some ankle support might be preferable.I would not advise going there if a thunderstorm or inclement weather are forecasted.Make sure and get to the visitor's center by at least 1 pm. Park rangers start telling tourists to hike toward their cars at 2:30pm. And everyone is required to drive away by 4pm. This is good because it does begin to get rather dark (and colder) in the slot canyon in the late afternoon. At least in the wintertime. My only reason for taking off a star is that I do think the Tribal Access Pass fees that are required by Cochiti Pueblo are too expensive. We had a family of 5 adults and the $23 or so PER PERSON ($20 plus fees) is too much. If it was a per vehicle fee, this would be reasonable. But requiring this per person is not okay for many families. These high fees will discourage some from visiting the site, which is a shame. The $5/per person BLM entry fee is reasonable, but requiring $20+ PER PERSON Cochiti Access Pass is not, in my opinion. If this pass allowed access to the pueblo itself, maybe that would be okay. But a pilot car leads you to and from the Cochiti Visitor's Center, and vehicles are not allowed to stray into the pueblo itself.

Lisa A — Google review

Tent Rocks National monument has been a favorite spot of mine for many years. The slot canyon is really neat and the land vibrates with history. This park has just recently reopened with many changes to accessibility including reservation only and a $20 tribal pass which must be purchased in conjunction with your recreation reservation ($5). A family of 4 will cost $120. Each time they want to visit.

Shannon E — Google review

Top notch, it has been about 25 years since my first visit. I've been anxious to return. Unique rock formations and beautiful colors.

The Sandia Peak Tramway, located in the Sandia Foothills on the eastern edge of Albuquerque, is a must-visit attraction offering a 2.7-mile aerial tram ride with stunning views of the city and mountains. As North America's longest aerial tram, it provides an exhilarating experience as it ascends to the peak of the magnificent Sandia Mountains.

I was visiting my son and this was a great adventure for us. We were just in for a huge surprise though when we got to the top and there was snow! I loved the experience and the scenery was absolutely breathtaking. I thought it would be more like just me and my kids and several small little cars, but it was a lot of us in the tram. Still, a beautiful experience.

Alexander S — Google review

It is an absolutely fantastic place with very picturesque views. The ride itself was only 15 minutes, but their trails are amazing. All the staff was very welcoming and polite, too! This park is huge with numerous trail options. It is worth visiting it for anyone. I regret coming here later in the afternoon and only spending about 4 hours due to the park getting dark. As many folks noted in the reviews, the views are spectacular! My recommendations to all visitors: 1. Please make sure to bring warm jackets and great hiking boots. It gets cold and icy in some areas and the winds are strong and cold. 2. Ensure to purchase tickets online in advance.

Dmitry Z — Google review

I highly recommend this, even if you're scared of heights lol! It's a great way to experience the beautiful scenery and geological history of New Mexico. Plus when you get to the top of the mountain the views are breathtaking. There was even snow! The tram pilots are super friendly and give some great info on the trip.

Sandia Peak Tramway – Conquer Your Fears & Enjoy the View! The Sandia Peak Tramway offers an unforgettable ride with breathtaking views of over 11,000 square miles of New Mexico. Even though I’m scared of heights, I still took the plunge—and it was absolutely worth it. Sometimes, you just have to face your fears! The ascent is smooth, and the panoramic scenery is nothing short of spectacular. One of the highlights of the experience was the tramway guide—funny, approachable, and full of interesting facts about the area. Their engaging commentary made the journey even more enjoyable and helped ease some of the nerves. At the top, visitors can take in the stunning landscape, explore hiking trails, or dine at Ten 3, a restaurant with incredible views. Whether you're a local or a visitor, this is an absolute must-do in Albuquerque!

Marcello L — Google review

We visited this park in early May. This was such a fun experience. We purchased tickets online the day before. We arrived and waited just a short time to board the tram, which went to the top of the mountain. There is a fine dining restaurant called TEN3 at the top if you are inclined to dine there, which you need reservations for.We took a short hike through the forest where we saw some awesome views down into the valley. There are many trails if you want to do more exploring deeper into the mountain. We then boarded the tram to return down the mountain. The ride does have tram operators aboard who give a brief history of the ski slope and surrounding area. At the bottom is a building with information and a gift shop.

Wendy K — Google review

Visiting the Sandia Peak Tramway was an unforgettable experience! The ride itself is smooth and offers absolutely breathtaking panoramic views of the Sandia Mountains and the Rio Grande Valley. As you ascend over 10,000 feet, the landscape transforms dramatically — from desert terrain to lush forested areas near the peak.At the top, the view is spectacular, especially during sunset when the sky turns incredible shades of orange, pink, and purple. There’s a nice observation deck and a couple of trails for those who want to explore further. It’s also a great spot for photos and soaking in the crisp mountain air.The tram operators were friendly and knowledgeable, sharing interesting facts about the area’s geography and wildlife. There’s also a restaurant at the summit, which makes for a lovely spot to relax with a drink or a meal while taking in the scenery.Highly recommend this for anyone visiting Albuquerque — it’s a unique, peaceful, and beautiful experience you won’t want to miss.

Lindsey W — Google review

The Sandia Peak tram looks bleak when going up and down, but it gives a majestic feeling. When the wind blows on the long tramway, it gives another thrilling experience. The taste of coffee at the top is ecstatic with the wind, sunlight, and scenery. It is better to come during the week rather than on the weekend because it is quiet.

Hyekyung K — Google review

Great views of both valleys! We had some lunch at the Ten3 lounge, WONDERFUL! Dress appropriately for the wind and the elevation of 10,500. They run 2 tram cars on a roughly 20 minute rotation (15 min ride, 5 minutes to unload and load).

Petroglyph National Monument, located west of the Rio Grande, is a vast desert park adorned with over 23,000 ancient petroglyphs dating back to 1000 BCAD 1700. The site showcases prehistoric Native American drawings on stone walls, with some carvings added by early Spanish settlers. Visitors can explore several trails such as Boca Negra Canyon, Piedras Marcadas, and Rinconada Canyon to observe these historical rock carvings.

It’s a nice place to pay a visit if you are in the way to Arizona. Went to the Visitor Center and learn about the history and old Pueblo rock carvings known as the Petroglyphs. Before the hike, you may be encouraged by the information ranger, to watch a short video near the gift shop so that hikers may appreciate the monument. There are a few trails and the easier and short trails can find around 100 over petroglyphs. Other trails can have more than 200 of them. I do enjoy the visit and getting some souvenirs.

Petroglyph National Monument offers an incredible hiking experience with trails that take you past fascinating ancient rock carvings. The scenery is beautiful, and the petroglyphs provide a glimpse into history. If you’re visiting during summer, be cautious of snakes on the trails. We visited in winter, which made for a more comfortable hike with cooler weather and no worries about snakes. It’s a great spot for outdoor enthusiasts and history lovers alike!

We did the two longer trails which were really nice hikes. We weren’t sure which ones we should try to see and the people at the visitor center weren’t super helpful in saying which trail would be best or which order would be recommended. You do have to hike and look for the petroglyphs. Some of them have signs in front but most of them you have to find on our own from a distance.

Allison T — Google review

Petroglyph National Monument protects one of the largest petroglyph sites in North America, featuring designs and symbols carved onto volcanic rocks by Native Americans and Spanish settlers 400 to 700 years ago. There are several trail you can take to see petroglyphs. We took the shortest one because of our limited time. It took around 1hr to see 100 of petroglyphs, with a steep, somewhat paved, medium strenuous hike. The view from the top is amazing. You can go to visitor center for a quick stop and ask for a map and then decide which hike you are gonna take. No pets allowed in the trail. Hiking with small kids will be challenging, but kids who can walk (above 3,4yrs would be fine)

Nathasha W — Google review

It would be a good site. But the thing is that the actual hiking trails are not even near here. You're redirected to walk all the way to the street and 20 minutes out. It's very misleading. But besides that, it's nice, and there is one trail available here.

Bella A — Google review

Easy to moderate hikes available- choose your own adventure to breathtaking views not afforded by city streets.

George W — Google review

Warning: The Mesa Point trail is a rough trail requiring steady footing. The other trails are MUCH easier. There are 100s of petroglyphs to see.

Museum

Sights & Landmarks

Sky City Cultural Center & Haak'u Museum, also known as Acoma Pueblo, is a historic Native village situated atop a sandstone mesa. Dating back to 1100-1250 A.D., it's believed to be the oldest continuously inhabited city in the U.S. The museum offers insightful exhibits on local history and culture, complemented by a video providing additional context. Visitors can join guided tours of the pueblo for an immersive experience.

Fantastic location. A terrific guide helped us understand the past and present of this important pueblo, the miseries the Spaniards inflicted and the strength of Acopa resistance. The museum has a wonderful film of the art of native pottery and some extraordinary weavings with embroidery overlay (no pictures allowed).

Deena A — Google review

What a hidden gem! Magnificent landscape, beautiful people, rich history. Our tour guide, "Gubi," is among the few people who still live on top of the mesa. We learned so much from him about the Acoma dating back to 1140 AD, with stories of his own family's history. Highly recommend!

Diane S — Google review

It’s about a 15 minute drive from the main highway. We went later on a Sunday, the visitor center cafe was closed, there wasn’t much in the unmanned gift shop, and there were only 3-4 vendors there selling crafts (we don’t have time to check out the museum). Luckily we had a leftover juice bottle to fill at the water fountain as there was no water or beverages to buy (but there a convenience store at the gas station at the highway exit). We took the next to last tour of the day, there were only about 8 people total. The van did a minute or two drive to the top of the mesa and then our tour started. Most of the time of the tour was spent inside the big church, getting a history lesson about the Pueblo and its people - plus some wisdom about life in general and a flute performance! - from our friendly and interesting tour guide. The rest of the 1.5 hour tour was walking around the Pueblo with its amazing views and interesting architecture (they are private family homes of varying quality and age, it’s a real place not a museum), and learning more history, as well as passing a handful more vendors (we never felt like we were being pushed into buying stuff). Although it wasn’t hot when we visited, there was no shade and it looked like it had been very muddy recently (the streets are dirt, not gravel or paved). There’s no electricity or plumbing or refreshments up top, and the edges of the mesa are peppered with fancy outhouses for the residents (but visitors can use them too). At the end of the tour we had the option to ride the van back to the visitor center or “take the stairs”, which are actually a winding steep path down through the cliffs with some pretty sketchy sections where you need to grab handholds carved into the rocks. It had neat views, but I would only recommend it for people in good shape and who aren’t afraid of heights!

Alex B — Google review

Visiting Acoma Sky City and the Haak’u Museum was one of the most educational and profound travel experiences I’ve ever had in America. Our guide (Gooby) was fabulous and told us so much information about Pueblo history, colonization and the ensuing resistance, pottery and artwork, spirituality, and modern-day life as one of the few remaining full-time inhabitants of the mesa.

Park

Nature & Parks

Canyon de Chelly National Monument, located on the Navajo Nation, is a vast park preserving archaeological resources spanning over 5,000 years of human occupation. Visitors can take tours and enjoy overlooks of ruins and the famous Spider Rock spire. The area is home to Navajo families who engage in livestock raising and farming within the canyons. While exploring the monument, visitors can drive through two scenic routes with multiple pullouts, some of which are wheelchair accessible.

A beautiful piece of history. Many great places to walk around and get a view of the canyon. During the time that we went, the one trail leading into the canyon that had been previously open to the public, was closed and had been for a few years (Nov 2024). However, you can hire a guide to go into the canyon. We didn’t necessarily have the funds for that, but it was worth it anyway to get the views from the top.

Sarah F — Google review

We did a four hour guided tour in the morning via Thunderbird Lodge. You have to have a guided tour to go in the bottom of the canyon, and I highly recommend it to not only see the views, but learn about the rich history and current culture of this incredible place. In the afternoon we visited all of the overlooks along the south rim and Antelope House on the North Rim.. Some of them are curbside overlooks, while others have short walks/hikes with stone steps or walking over the sandstone, which was fun for our teenagers. People with mobility issues will be able to enjoy Spider Rock as it's paved, but Antelope House and Sliding House involved more hiking and walking over sandstone. Tunnel Overlook involved going down a hill to the platform. Tseyi Overlook is curbside, and Junction Overlook is viewable from the curb but also has the opportunity to walk out on the rocks. Face Rock overlook has a paved path. This is a spectacular place!

Shanna J — Google review

This place is beautiful! We took the bear trail hike, and our guide was awesome! Very knowledgeable and kept us at a good pace. I recommend "Richard!" He was awesome!! Thank You!!

Rene B — Google review

Great views at the many overlooks. I did both the north and the south and every stop was amazing. Such an amazing place! I talked to other sightseers and a few of them recommended the canyon tour to see much much more from below. There are not that many facilities available at the overlooks, just a few have toilets. Almost every overlook has local people sitting there in the parking areas, set up, selling their crafts...

Wayne J — Google review

Unbelievably beautiful!Definitely worth exploring but keep a close eye on small children and pets- extremely high cliffs and no barricades in most areas. High winds possible- we froze to death while visiting here in March- dress accordingly.

T J — Google review

You need to take a tour or have a jeep to get the full experience. Driving from Gallup is not worth it unless you are able to go down in the canyon on a tour or jeep. If you did that I’m sure it would be a 5 star. We did buy some Native American handcrafted art.

Pam H — Google review

Once again, National Parks are a true gem. This time we also got an RV spot for the night at the park campground. Shoe horned our 40 foot class A with a 20 foot car trailer into a spot. No hookups here. Unloaded the jeep and went for the South rim drive. Was greeted by mixed sleet, snow and hail when we were almost at the final overlook. May 5, 2025.

Nature & Parks

The Petrified Forest Gift Shop offers visitors the chance to take home a piece of petrified wood legally acquired from private lands. Run by members of the Navajo tribe, the shop has friendly staff and a nice selection of items. While prices for general petrified wood are reasonable, polished pieces are quite inflated. The shop also offers RV parking with electrical hookups and boasts incredibly dark skies for stargazing and astrophotography enthusiasts.

Camped here with hookups for $20 bucks, they have free camping if you don’t need electricity. The store owner was very nice and the shop had lots of souvenirs.

Bostonh2o — Google review

This was a fun shop to poke around in after leaving the Petrified Forest. There are tons of things in there ranging from different types of petrified wood (claiming to be collected from legal sites not within the PF) to fossils to minerals and to even some Native American souvenirs. We felt that lots of stuff in here was overpriced, especially the petrified wood and fossils, but the minerals and Native American souvenirs were decently priced for the most part. We did buy a few small things for future Christmas gifts, and the shop owner was nice. We especially liked the goofy setup outside with the cars trying to haul off giant chunks of petrified wood.

Cody P — Google review

Beautiful museum and gift shop just steps from the entrance of Petrified Forest National Park. The best part is the electrical sites super comfortable with picnic tables at reasonable price.

Maria S — Google review

the shop itself was really amazing and i picked out some great pieces. however the cashier was very rude and accused me of fraud when i asked why i needed to show my id in order to pay with debit card. There’s no signs posted that say you need an ID to make a purchase with card so i was confused. Nevertheless i pulled out cash and paid for my items. i hope the customer service is more friendly next time.

Rolled in late for a camp spot. Around 7:30/8. The gift shop was closed but there was an attendant on a golf cart available. It’s $25 for electric. No sewer or water. And $10 for WiFi. All in all was good visit. Start at the entrance off 40 and make your way down to the camp ground

Didn't go in but I recommend canon here if you are going to go to the petrified forest. Quiet and lots of options from full hook ups to boondocking.

Mike W — Google review

Really cool shop with a nice parking space for RV's with electrical hookup (for a fee). As a bonus the skies here are the darkest I've ever seen so if you're into stargazing and/or astrophotography this is a great location.

Brent F — Google review

It may say "Museum" on the outside but, it's 99% gift shop. It has typical, high tourist prices. A large sign outside says "Clean restrooms" but, they're always closed. That must be how they stay clean. No pictures are allowed inside. (How do they expect you to text a pic to someone to see if they want you to buy it. Dogs are allowed as long as you carry them.

Historical place

Standin' on The Corner Foundation in Winslow, Arizona is a historic area that attracts many visitors. It features a two-story mural, a life-size statue, built-in seats, and native landscaping. This spot holds significance as it was immortalized in the 1972 Eagles hit song "Take It Easy". The lyrics from the song have made this corner famous and it has become a pilgrimage site for music lovers.

Definitely a cool visit for anyone traveling the old RT 66 roadway. There are numerous restaurants within feet of the famous corner and numerous shops to purchase gifts. It's a small town that's easy to get into and various places to park for free. Not that far away is one of three(?) famous Wigwam Motels...another cool stop.

Don N — Google review

One of my all time favorite things to do on roadtrips is stop for all things random, quirky and fun. Add in a photo op and I’m sold! On a recent road trip we were close enough where I had to pull off the main highway and check it out. For a small town it’s pretty busy in this area. Anyone and everyone who’s heard “that song” wants to get a pic here. Some gift shops and restaurant near by.

Janelle — Google review

A great place visit if your Eagles fan or into musical history! Located just I- 40 on old Route 66, there's a famous hotel, and plenty of other sites when you visit Winslow. Everyone I met was very friendly and helpful with taking great photos. Leaving I took 87 south on my way to Payson.

Warren H — Google review

The comradery of visitors ensures you'll have someone willing to take your picture. No I didn't brave and impromptu singing video, nor did anyone else volunteer. Lots of places to sit down and relax.

Debra R — Google review

A must stop for anyone into musical history! Besides being on Route 66, there's a famous hotel, and a 9-11 Memorial not far away! So much to do, so little time!

Melvin G — Google review

Cool tourist trap! The area is not that big. It was easy to find parking when we went. Had lunch and bought a T-shirt in one of the souvenir stores.

Nelida S — Google review

Awesome photo ops. Great shops. Free public parking. This was a once in a lifetime opportunity for me. And Winslow makes it an amazing experience.

Meteor Crater Natural Landmark is an extraordinary destination that showcases the remnants of an ancient meteorite impact. This site features a well-organized interpretive center complete with a museum, theater, and gift shop, making it perfect for visitors of all ages. The crater itself spans a mile in diameter and plunges 500 feet deep, offering breathtaking views that are hard to comprehend until you see them in person. For those planning their visit, there’s ample parking available including designated spots for RVs.

Fantastic place to visit especially with kids. Costs about $25 per visit per person. It includes a short movie about the geological history of the crater. There is also a fun VR ride, which kids would definitely enjoy. There is a small exhibit section that’s quite fun too. They have a simulator for meteor impact on earth — fun game for kids. The only downside is that it’s not particularly close to any big city or attraction. About 1.5 hour drive from Sedona or about 40 mins from Flagstaff.

M J — Google review

We had such a fun time visiting Meteor Crater! It was one of those spots that ended up being way more interesting and exciting than we expected. Our preschooler especially loved it—he was totally into the motion simulator ride, and honestly, so were we! There’s also a short movie that explains the crater’s history, and it was really well done. Just the right length to keep both kids and adults engaged.Laurie, one of the staff members, was amazing. So friendly and welcoming—she really made us feel at home. That kind of personal touch always makes a place more special. The place is set up nicely with a gift shop (lots of cool stuff!), a little coffee/snack shop, and super clean restrooms—which is always a huge plus when you’re on the road with a kid.Definitely recommend stopping here if you’re driving through the area. It’s educational, fun, and surprisingly family-friendly. A great break from the usual roadside attractions!

Sheikh R — Google review

Great stop just off the highway. Not a national park, but so much better. Everything is clean. The road to get there is in great condition. All the attractions are included with your entry price. The coffee shop has delicious coffee. The gift shop has a wide variety of items to choose from. The staff is very friendly. In summer months they even have a place for you to leave your dogs. Definitely would recommend this stop.

Karen W — Google review

This was a fantastic natural event place to visit. Plenty of stuff to do to entertain for a couple of hours. Huge souvenir shop. Great theater that taught about the meteor and crater. Interactive exhibits that kids and adults can touch and play with. There is an amusement park type ride that I did not take part in but it’s a sit down experience with a screen like you’d see at universal studios or Disney. There is also a crater rim tour that I didn’t take part in either. But I heard the tour guide talk to the group and the tour was about 45-60 min. And of course it’s outside. I highly recommend this natural wonder to anyone in the area or traveling through I-40. It is literally right off the highway. There are elevators and the whole place is completely set up for wheelchair accessibility with ramps - except maybe the rim tour. I can’t speak on this again because I did not participate.

Jedi W — Google review

If I could give this museum and Jeremy, our tour guide, TEN stars I would!!! Driving accross the country on the I-40 and we HAD to stop here. $30 bucks for adult tickets are not bad considering we were there for almost 3 hours. We watched the 10 minute movie and went on the walking tour for one hour! Jeremy is an awesome and funny tour guide, he's super knowledgeable. They have a huge gift shop and many opportunities for great pictures... Including ALIENS!!!

Brisa D — Google review

One of the best preserved meteor craters in the world. Because Arizona is such a dry place, the crater remains largely the same as it been since the day of impact. The main area is the visitor center, which has plenty of things to do for a few hours. There’s a theater, a gift shop, and even a motion simulator. The motion simulator is very fun and enjoyable, and the views of the canyon are great! There are tours around a fraction of the rim, but you can always get views from the visitor center. Overall, would definitely recommend stopping by and checking out !

Landon B — Google review

For my budget 30 dollars a person is to hi for a look at a hole. Plus all the barbed wire and fences made it feel like you where visiting a prison. And the building to get in didn't help much, it's a bit of an eye sore in the middle of the desert. The 2 stars are because i didn't go in and it might be worth a look. For comparison the grand canyon is 35 per car and it is good for 7 days.

Mike W — Google review

Unique part of natural history. This is a once-in-a-lifetime must see. Entry price is reasonable considering the upkeep and the fact that this is a privately owned attraction. The buildings are clean and in very good repair. The rim tour is very informative and nice unless the wind is blowing at 39 mph and the temperature is below 40 :-). Absolutely recommend.

Wupatki National Monument is a protected area that offers self-guided tours and trails for visitors to view the ruins of five prehistoric pueblos. The site showcases the amazing building skills and culture of the indigenous people who lived there. It has been reconstructed to retain its historical significance, and efforts are made to preserve it as such. Visitors can enjoy a beautiful drive from Volcano, take in all sites in the National Monument Park, and respect ancient indigenous sites.

Amazing views all around. Not too terrible of a walk. My family and I were lucky enough to have the place to ourselves. Went on a weekday in mid February.

Kayla C — Google review

Wupatki is a wonderfully preserved archeological site. It was fascinating to learn about the Native Americans that inhabited the pueblo ruins. The blow hole was very cool and not to be missed. Definitely a must stop if in area!

TG — Google review

Don’t skip this NM. More than expected! Our family enjoyed the ancestral Pueblo’s and rustic area of Wupatki. We are for Texas, but I told my wife, “this is what I envisioned of the ‘wild west’. VC is small but tons of info. Spend the $2 and get the book for the self guided tour, you’ll learn vastly. As you look eastward, the rugged western terrain speaks to you. As you look west and south the area is reminiscent of the former volcanos of the area. Make sure to check out the natural air vent toward the bottom of the Pueblo, awesome natural wonder!

Mike E — Google review

What a beautiful preserved archaeological site!!!! The drive here was also so peaceful. I recommend checking this out along with the natural blowhole and all the other things to find, as well as spend some time reading inside the visitor center.

Gabrielle S — Google review

This was absolutely worth the drive. The landscape surrounding the ruins underscores beauty of these structures. The small visitor center has plenty of information about the history and heritage as well as wildlife and vegetation. If you want to walk inside of the ruins, turn right to go to the Wukoki Pueblo before arriving at the visitor center.

We loved this place! Easy walking trails and tons of history and great sense of community. 100% recommend

This was part two of our National Parks tour for the day. (We stopped at Sunset Crater first). Wupatki is about a 25 min drive from Sunset crater. The visitor center is along the left side of the road when coming from Sunset crater and the blowhole and Pueblo is located behind the center. The restrooms are great here as well. Very clean. The visitor center itself is smaller and full of information. The rangers were so helpful with information. My kids also completed the Junior Ranger program and got their badges for both Sunset Crater here as well as Wupatki. The Pueblo is stunning. You can walk around it and close to it on the pebble trail. If you follow the trail to the right, you pass by other structures. There is a book you can purchase in the visitor center for $2. It’s a great price and packed with info!Follow the trail all the way down and to the right and you will come to a place that looks like a square chimney coming out of the ground. This is the blow hole. It’s so cool! We were visiting on a day where the blow hole was blowing air out and not sucking it in. To understand how this works, read the sign!!What a fun place to visit! We are so glad we stopped. We even saw a lizard.Go back out on the road and go to the Lomaki Pueblo as well. Look over the ledge of the flat part of it to see a petroglyph.Don’t forget to get your National Parks passport stamp here!! My kids love collecting them in their books! A daily fee is paid at the visitor center. We are active military so we have a free national parks pass. Buying a pass would be worth it so you can visit all the wonderful parks in the USA!!Don’t forget to get your photo in front of the monument sign! It’s a couple miles from the visitor center on the way from Sunset crater. It comes up quick so be ready to pull over for it.

Jill H — Google review

An interesting national monument where you can look around and look at old Indian ruins. Located in the painted desert, you can drive up to a ruin site and just imagine how they lived there. Plus, there’s a small cinder volcano you can climb up here.Admission is free until you go to the visitor center. There will be someone collecting fees there. Plus, at the main site, there’s a wind tunnel that can either blow inwards or outwards. Although this is picturesque, this doesn’t interest me personally and I’d rather go to the sister monument Sunset Crater.

Crater

Sights & Landmarks

Sunset Crater, an 8,042-ft. extinct cinder cone located just twelve miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona on U.S. 89, offers a glimpse into the aftermath of its eruption around AD 1064. The volcano's ash covered an area of 800 sq miles and led to the formation of the Kana-A lava flow, displacing farmers who had tilled the land for centuries. Today, visitors can explore a 1-mi.

Awesome place to visit. Lots of things to see. Plan on spending at least half a day to take in all the sights & trails.

Highly recommend for visiting! It was very interesting to see really crater and visited museum and trued astronauts foods… Nice point!

Oksana O — Google review

We love coming here, it's peaceful, has great trails and I love the "crunch- crunch" sounds when walking on the rocks of the lava flow. Beautiful!!

Loria — Google review

Small, but wonderful park. It doesn't seem as over run with people as some ofvthe others. Very peaceful. It's a shame that so much of the park was burned in a fire in '22. Some of the trails are closed. Still some very interesting walks to take, getting up close the the lava. Beautiful views. Nice visitors center.

Lorraine M — Google review

Great hikes and even better views. This national park is worth the drive and spending the day there. Pack a lunch and enjoy it!

Zack G — Google review

We were there on Dec. 4.2023. We had Ben hear back on April 2018. We found this place simply awesome . Seeing the lava flows. Around and the nice walk ways around the Crater part is really nice also have nice trials to walk on to . There where area when come in to park you can pull off and get a good Picture of the Sunset Crater . And the Mountains behind you when there they had snow on them . It was really pretty to see.

Kam’s T — Google review

A nice place to go hiking and see the lava flows. There are various trails, from short paved ones to longer unpaved hikes. Unfortunately one was closed due to the recent fire but the rest were open. You can't go up to the mountain itself but there are many places to see it up close. If you are going to Sunset Crater I recommend also visiting the Wupatki monument, one fee gets you in to both.

Nolan B — Google review

Sunset Crater Volcano is just twelve miles north of Flagstaff, Arizona on U.S. 89. I initially passed by and noticed it as I was returning to Flagstaff from Page. I had no idea that there were volcanoes in the southwestern United States until I arrived in Flagstaff. I noticed cinder cones as I arrived at my hotel off I-40 on the north end of Flagstaff. On my last day in Flagstaff, September 30 2021, I headed up the road to see Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument. It is part of the U.S. National Park system so if you have an annual pass, it will not cost anything more otherwise there is an entrance fee is $25. There is a visitor center with restroom and gift shop. There are multiple trails to walk so I recommend looking at the website for this monument prior to going. One can drive through and see quite a bit but I recommend parking and getting out for a short hike. The really nice thing is that the Lava Flow Trail has an area that is handicapped accessible with an actual sidewalk. On this sidewalk trail, one can actually get great views of some of the cinder cones and lava fields. There are real trails off the paved area.Within the park, the Lenox Crater Trail appears to be the longest marked trail. A longer trail, O’Leary Trail, actually starts outside the park and passes through the northwest corner of the park and up to O’Leary Peak. This trail is about 9.6 miles, according to my research, and O’Leary Peak is an actual lava dome volcano, not a cinder cone. Anyway, the sidewalk-ed area has benches to sit and enjoy the views, peace and quiet. After my hike, I sat and just enjoyed the views for about an hour.I think that it was worth it and if I lived in the Flagstaff area, this is possibly a place that I would visit often. One thing to remember – though this is Arizona, there is actually winter in this part of Arizona as Flagstaff’s elevation is actually almost 7000 feet above sea level, that 1600 feet higher than the ‘Mile High City of Denver’. If you find yourself in Flagstaff and have at least a couple of hours, I recommend Sunset Crater Volcano National Monument.

Walnut Canyon National Monument, located less than 9 miles east of downtown Flagstaff, offers a glimpse into the ancient cliff dwellings of the Sinagua people who inhabited the area from 600 to 1400 AD. The main cliff dwellings feature structures carved and built from local stone and mortar, showcasing the resilience of these ancient inhabitants.

Very nice! There's the easy and short rim hike with spectacular views into the canyon. Then there's the more difficult hike down into the mid canyon level to see the cliff dwellings. That hike is paved the entire way, however it's 736 easy steps down and 736 hard steps back up. There are plenty of places to rest along the way. The trail does wander along the cliff edge, so be careful. Plenty of information boards along the way to explain what you're seeing. Still, I did not see how the ancient inhabitants made it to the base of the canyon to collect water, or how they grew crops. Looked like a dangerous place to live. Very interesting overall. Arrive before 4PM to get on the trail, takes about an hour. There's also a CCC 1930s structure used as the information center and gift shop.

David C — Google review

Great place to go if you want to discover some of the history in this area. The dwellings in the side of the cliff are really cool. Lots of rock stairs to walk up and down, so make sure you have water so you don't cramp up!

Joshua — Google review

Great way to see cliff dwellings up close. I did not realize there were so many to see up close. And also to be able to see the other cliff dwellings all around the canyon. There are many steps to drop down to the elevation of the dwellings. The path is well paved with handrails on most of the steps.

Thelma E — Google review

Worth the Drive, But Be Ready for the Stairs! We made a quick trip out to Walnut Canyon from Bell Rock it’s only about a 45-minute drive—and wow, totally worth it. The views are insane and the cliff dwellings are something else. You can actually walk right up to them on the Island Trail, which feels like stepping back in time with the Sinagua people. Super peaceful, but there’s something kinda eerie too… like the cliffs are silently watching you. Or maybe it’s just the wind playing tricks. Now, heads up this isn’t the spot to bring hyper little kids. Those cliffs are steep, and the drop-offs are no joke. And the hike back up? Let’s just say… it’s a stair master workout. Definitely not ideal for elderly folks or anyone who’s really out of shape. But if you’re up for it, the experience is incredible. Hidden gem for sure. Just bring water, good shoes, and maybe leave the sugar-loaded toddlers at home.

Ven C — Google review

The island trail will take you down into the canyon and guide you along the cliff side. There are informative placards throughout the trail detailing the history of the tribes that once lived here. The island trail does have a lot of steps down and up making it more difficult than some, but everything is paved. The views are well worth the stairs back up to the top.

Matt W — Google review

Definitely worth visiting if you’re just looking for a good place to enjoy nature, but doesn’t have much compared to surrounding parks. Walnut Canyon has two trails: the rim trail; which has views of the canyon, and the Island Trail that goes midway down. Just to know that the Island Trail is more of a moderate hike. The visitor center is entertaining and contains views of the canyon. It also offers a lot of good information about the area. It’s also cozy and offers a good place to hang out. The trails are also well maintained. Overall, not as ‘cool’ as the other parks, but it’s still pretty enjoyable.

Landon B — Google review

We really enjoyed walking the Island Trail, it’s a loop that takes you right past ancient cliff dwellings, and the views into the canyon are incredible. There are a few sets of stairs along the way, but nothing too intense if you take your time. It’s a great spot to stretch your legs and soak in some Southwest history.

Eric L — Google review

Amazing experience seeing the Hopi cave dwellings. The park Rangers were knowledgeable and nice. The gift store had a variety of items and we chose some cookbooks. The hike down was easy but be prepared for the stairs out of the canyon. Bring water and good shoes.

Park built around the natural travertine bridge found in the 1800s for hikes, picnics & day trips.

About an hour and a half from the big city. Absolutely BEAUTIFUL giant cave. With water continually trickling down from the top. Nice easy trail going down to the bottom. On both sides. A must see if you're in the area. I think it was only $7.00 per car. Very reasonable.

Ron W — Google review

Beautiful place, small park with plenty of parking, picnic area and gift shop. 4 hiking trails all of them lead to the bottom of the creek and back up. They are short but steep. There is a paved walkway to enjoy 4 viewpoints. The observation deck at the end of Gowan trail gives you a chance to sit down and enjoy the views through the bridge and waterfalls on top of it. You can also walk to the other side if you want to.

Kaja S — Google review

The pictures that you see online do not do justice to the grandeur of this national park. We went in early January and it was still absolutely breathtaking. Take your time and look around. There is beauty at every turn. When they say hiking shoes are recommended, they mean it! If you wander down under the bridge, the rocks are slippery and you could easily break an ankle if you're not careful. But it is so worth the trip especially if you need some nature therapy. This will be a return visit for us in the spring and I'm sure in the summer!

Kimberly C — Google review

This was a short and very fun hike!! Going under and hiking through and under the bridge was the best!! I recommend this park to everyone. There are beautiful view points so you don't have to hike below. Very clean and well kept park. The employees are kind, knowledgeable and very helpful

Bonnie K — Google review

Great stop to see some natural beauty. The hike down is like doing about 15-20 flights of stairs, not too bad, but will we are you down if you aren't used to it. Some mega engineering at the bottom where there are metal stairs and walkways. Our waterfall was pretty thin as it had rained. Good adventure.

Tom M — Google review

It's an experience like no other, especially when it's open under the bridge for even more exploration. Always drink plenty of water and plan for a few hours if you're the exploring type. Don't miss the very short waterfall trail so you can cool off!

William R — Google review

First of all the staff was so friendly and helpful. The park and scenery was beautiful, and the bridge was incredible. You should allow for stops on the home back up, but definitely 5 stars and I highly recommend this to anyone who loves nature.

Snaps B — Google review

The only thing that would make this better is if they had some food for purchase, otherwise it's as good as you get. Short hikes that you'll make memories on. Beauty that is hard to find. I couldn't stop taking pictures, and I couldn't just say and enjoyed myself only taking in the surroundings.

Lowell Observatory, established in 1894 by Percival Lowell, is a renowned hilltop center dedicated to the study of astronomy and solar system evolution. The observatory offers tours, solar viewing, and stargazing opportunities for over 100,000 annual visitors. Home to several telescopes and the Navy Precision Optical Interferometer, it also conducts pure research in astronomical phenomena.

I had a great time here. So much to see, do, and learn. Most of the staff were very friendly, and helpful. The stories on the roof were amazing; thanks for the heated seats! The movie theater was pretty rad also.At the open deck observatory (#3) I saw Mars, Venus, Jupiter, and several of Jupiter's moons, as well as the Orion nebula and several close-ups of Earth's moon. And a rocket happened to fly by in the distance! Is this a normal night of sky watching?!l

I had such a great time visiting Lowell Observatory! It's a super fun and engaging place that’s perfect for all ages. The setting is absolutely beautiful, and there's a really cool mix of indoor and outdoor activities to explore. From hands-on exhibits to fascinating shows and live presentations, there’s always something going on—and it changes often, so every visit feels fresh and new. There are plenty of shows and mini plays to choose from, which makes the experience even more dynamic. It’s very interactive and the staff are friendly and knowledgeable, which adds to the fun. I’d definitely recommend going on a clear day if possible, especially if you want to take full advantage of the stargazing opportunities. All in all, a fantastic spot for science lovers, families, or anyone looking for a unique and inspiring experience!

Very cool place! Loved the dark skies and telescopes and heated seats!I recommend going before 4 and/or after 7pm because of activity times. Also, make sure to call and verify night activities if its cloudy or any precipitation present, as they may not be able to have them.

I loved this place before but I love the new building and experiences they offer. My last experience with my parents was in the old building we did all of the exhibits except for the large telescope. That time we arrived at sunset and had time to walk through all of the buildings and smaller telescopes. He ended up leaving before the large one opened because my dad has mg and he couldn't handle the cold. The second trip was with my other half was such a cool experience in the new building and with it being Plato's birthday. We drove up from Phoenix and had a two-night stay in Flagstaff for our anniversary. When we got into town it was too early to check into the hotel and because we had already bought tickets online for the observatory we figured we would check in early. He walked around the new building watched a show walked around the buildings outside and waited until the small telescopes opened. They were having mechanical issues with one of them so they didn't open as early as they normally would which was fine we were in no rush. We thought about eating in the cafeteria they offer but decided to eat at another local restaurant and check into the hotel. Our plan was to come back after sunset when the large telescope was open and to experience all the stars and everything at night 🫣 unfortunately that did not happen 😭 at no fault to The observatory....about an hour after we checked into our hotel the food poisoning from the local restaurant hit us! The staff and everyone at the observatory was super nice and helpful we will definitely be back hopefully this summer to fully experience and enjoy everything ✨🌕

Shawna ( — Google review

This is such a beautiful and perfect observatory, I honestly can’t explain it. I wish I lived in Flagstaff so I could come every weekend. They have a bunch of different telescopes and people that know how to operate all of them. We even got to see the sun spots on the sun! If you bring your own scope, you can even find a good spot to take your own astrophotos.

Nestled atop the stunning red rock buttes of Sedona, the Chapel of the Holy Cross is a modern architectural marvel that dates back to 1956. Perched about 250 feet high on a twin pinnacled spur, this chapel offers breathtaking panoramic views of the surrounding landscape. While it serves as an important site for the Catholic Church Diocese, it warmly welcomes visitors daily (except on major holidays) to explore its unique design and impressive artwork.

Wow!! What an amazing experience at the Chapel of the Holy Cross. Better to park your vehicle where you find a parking g spot and walk up the rest. They also have coaches operating, which you could use. Loved the Chapel and the history behind how it became a reality. Definitely visit this one in Sedona, Arizona.

Karl D — Google review

This is a very hot tourist attraction. It is very hard to find a parking space nearby. The architecture of the chapel is very unique and blends into the surrounding red rock mountains. The view is great at the top. There are some rock formations like a family of 4 and 2 of them have kids on their back. Very interesting.

I really encourage you to visit on weekdays if you have the chance. I tried to make it to the mass which is a 3 pm every day, it was packed. If you would like to go, be there at least 30 mins before, place is really small.Note: extra chairs were provided out of the chapel so you can still enjoy the celebration.

The Chapel of the Holy Cross is an absolutely stunning place to visit. The views from the chapel are breathtaking, and the architecture is so unique and peaceful. I took some beautiful photos inside, and there are also a few great souvenirs available for purchase. It’s a serene spot to reflect and enjoy the beauty of Sedona — definitely worth a visit!

Definitely a visit … again … and if you are a spiritual person, no matter what denomination. This is worth the visit. I actually connected and chatted with the woman outside for a long time and she gave me a little bit of a spiritual gifts on my solo adventures to keep me safe. How amazing is that!! I was worried about the parking, but I was praying to the fairies and as soon as I arrived, I got parking as it could be difficult.

This is an amazing church ⛪️ in Sedona! Popular tourist destination so be prepared for lots of traffic and people! The inside is simple but stunning! A variety of different people and faith's. Tour bus 🚌 can be cumbersome to regular traffic. There is a gift shop downstairs which is just to the left of the entrance. They offer 3 day candles 🕯 and accept donations. They offer Holy water at the entrance to fill containers that are sold in the gift shop.

Sandra A — Google review

The location closes at a certain time, it's not 24/7 access. The parking is limited so you may have to wait for parking. The chapel is all the way at the top of the zig zag hill. The parking goes all the way up. If you don't find a spot at the top you have to U-turn and come back down and look. There is somewhat street parking before the compounds gate begins. There is a cart shuttle that can take you up and down the hill if needed. At the top lovely views, a chapel and a gift shop in the basement. Very fair prices. There are active masses going on. Times are listed when visiting the chapel.

Daniela M — Google review

Beautiful, rare and unique. A beautiful place to worship God. Parking is INSANE! Come prepared to wait and maybe fight for a spot haha no joke. Once parked you have a small trek up a slightly steep hill then a ramp up to the church doors. Outside of the church there are viewing spots with places to sit. You can go into the church and to the, pray, donate, light a candle or talk with a priest. It’s VERY VERY small inside so again be ready to wait in line just to see inside or sit down. We did not do service here but there are services held here. Very pretty.

Bell Rock is a well-known bell-shaped butte in Sedona, offering a 3.5-mile round-trip hiking trail through upland desert scenery. It's considered an iconic symbol of the area and holds spiritual significance for many visitors. The moderately easy hike provides stunning views of the desert landscape, and adventurous hikers can scramble to the top for panoramic vistas. Many recommend continuing past the first signage on the Bell Rock Path trail for a better route up.

Bell Rock was a hiking area. There are several paths, and each path has a different degree of difficulty and number of miles. The views are fantastic. There are restrooms and plenty of places to park. There is a $5.00 fee for the day to help preserve the area. If you have an NPS National Parks Service card, you can put that in your window.

Marchelle — Google review

Great place to hike! Some paths are easy and others are more challenging. Parking is a bit of a challenge. There are a couple of lots ($5.00/day) but all were full with cars coming in constantly. We lucked out by finding someone leaving.

Tina M — Google review

A popular tourist destination and people come here a LOT. Parking here can fill up fast so plan accordingly. However, Bell Rock is a beautiful place to hike. There’s a map of trails, but can be easy to go off trail. For hikers, if you’re in good shape, you can hike up pretty far up Bell Rock. There’s bathrooms (albeit in low quality) and you’ll have a good time here.

Landon B — Google review

Great hike but park in north parking if you intent to climb. The climb was good. Surprisingly at the top I felt tingling effect in my feet and legs. After coming down my wife told me about vortex at bell rock. I don’t believe these but I felt something, kind of interesting.

One of the first places we visited in Sedona. Different ways to travel to the top, with varying degrees of difficultness. Nice place to find a rock a meditate while you're there.

Karl D — Google review

It was beautiful! Peaceful and serene. I highly recommend buying your park ticket ahead of time. Also, get up early to go visit these places. Parking fills up quickly.

Adrienne H — Google review

I hike Bell Rock regularly, almost monthly! If you want to get the views shown here, they are higher up the mnt. You will have to scramble on all fours. It is not required to see the beautiful views of Cathedral Rock, but the hike up is well worth the hard work. This particular weekend I acquired 3 friends. Two women from Toronto and a male from Texas. We enjoyed each other’s company making it to the top!

Aubree M — Google review

Bell Rock was such a beautiful place to explore! The hike was not too hard and the views were amazing, especially as you get higher up. The red rocks and the scenery all around are just stunning. It’s a peaceful spot with a lot of energy — we really enjoyed our time there. Definitely a must-visit if you're in Sedona!

Cathedral Rock is a famous red rock formation located in Coconino National Forest, known for its stunning views and as a popular spot for sunset photography. It is also believed to be one of the four major locations in the Sedona region where spiritual energy vortexes are present. These vortexes are said to have an impact on one's inner self, with Juniper trees near them exhibiting spiral-like growth patterns.

It is a short but demanding hike up some steep sections, including some rock scrambling up to the base of the cathedral rock…Spectacular views and great workout ..I highly recommend go early morning and beat the crowds…

Shabbir C — Google review

Wow. What a beautiful experience at Cathedral Rick on our trip to Sedona, Arizona. The climb gets tougher as you go higher, and make sure you remember the trail going up. A bit slippery on the way down. Also, a beautiful stream if you hike to your right and flatland to the left.

Karl D — Google review

Minus one star for the mess involved in getting to the trailhead. The parking lot for this place is on a residential street for some crazy reason and so they won't let you actually park there except for limited occasions. So instead you park at a lot two miles up towards Sedona which isn't big enough. So first you wait for a spot to open. Then you wait for a free shuttle (every 15 minutes when we visited but likely you won't get on the first shuttle.) Then you take the short ride to trailhead. We spent more time waiting for parking spaces and shuttles than we did on the hike.Once there the hike is nice but not really very long. It starts gently and hits what I dubbed the "Hillary Step" which is a short and steep section which is more intimidating than difficult. Many people turned around there but those that didn't were rewarded with beautiful views at the top. The trail is well marked and easy to follow. There is a bathroom at the bottom which is good because you'll spend some time there waiting for another shuttle back to your car, where there will be another batch of people anxiously awaiting your departure.

Shane K — Google review

Perfect day hike. We did this in late December and walked in light tops under a glorious winter sun. We parked at the bell rock parking and walked in, it was fantastic with view after view. Staying in the trail was tricky at times but people put tree branches across wrong routes which helped and there is good signal for maps apps. The parking was full by about 9:30 with people queuing to get a spot so best get there early or later in the day, even in winter.

Stuart W — Google review

A truly breathtaking and amazing hike. It’s short but very steep. Lots of climbing involved. Hiking shoes are recommended. The trail end of the trail has the most spectacular view of the valley. The hike to the vortex is a bit sketchy and I’d only recommend it to experienced hikers. Visiting places like this make you feel so small yet so at peace. Cathedral Rock is a must see of Sedona.Sometimes the parking lot is closed and you will have to take the shuttle. The Sedona shuttle system is very easy to use and the drivers are very friendly.

Emma B — Google review

they restricted car access so you can only get to there by shuttle bus, check the schedule (about every 15mins) and expect crowd that you may take longer wait time to get in the bus. but, the restriction ended at 520pm you can drive there by then, just be caution about the sunset time, the mountain became dark after 550pm

Auntie D — Google review

The breathtaking sunset views up there are absolutely worth the effort!! It wasn’t super difficult as I was hiking in a group and I only needed to follow the footing of people in the front which helped a lot. If I were to figure out the submitting route myself, it would have been horrifying. It’s about half a mile going up with 600+ ft elevation gain. It took about 30 mins to go up and about 20 mins to go down so I recommend start descending right away after sunset(if you are here for the sunset view) to have enough date light while scrambling down. I highly, highly recommend wearing shoes with good grips as that will make this adventure much safer. Parking becomes impossible within one hour of the sunset time.

Yang S — Google review

It was a challenging climbing all the way to the viewpoint. Not easy for a regular hikers. But it was one of the best experiences of mine in Sedona.

Sights & Landmarks

Montezuma Castle National Monument is a well-preserved cliff dwelling dating back to the 12th century, built by the Sinagua people overlooking Beaver Creek. It was one of the nation's first National Monuments and offers a glimpse into prehistoric life in the United States. Although visitors are no longer allowed inside due to damage, you can still peer through the windows and imagine what life was like for its ancient inhabitants.

It's a must see if you are in this area. It's amazing. And mind boggling to think how people lived like this! There's a gift shop and bathrooms. We got the park pass for here and Toozigoot as we went in the same day. Much cheaper. The hike is easy and not that long. The sycamore trees are beautiful to look at and the river is as well. It's limestone and other rocks, and it's just fascinating. I'm so glad we went! Pictures don't do justice.

Rachel R — Google review

Very thought provoking and interesting place. This isn’t a castle, it’s just an ancient city carved on the side of a cliff. There’s a small trail here with good views of the city.Theres a small visitor center with an exhibit, restrooms, and water. The employees were good and the trail offers good education about the place. But just seeing the place is astonishing enough. Overall, would definitely recommend stopping by for a short while.

Landon B — Google review

We had to spend the night in Camp Verde dueto closed mountain passes leading to Grand Canyon. What a pleasant surprise to come across this stunning and interesting monument from the past. The remains of a beautiful village from the past surrounded by trees and a plentiful flowing creek. So worth the visit. The visitors center told the story of these gentle, hard-working, peaceful natives. Along the trail is a diorama showing what life was like then. What a treasure.

Maggie L — Google review

If you're just here for the view, it’s a solid 5 stars — the monument offers beautiful scenery, an easy trail, amazing Arizona sycamore trees, Beaver Creek views, family- and dog-friendly paths, shaded areas, and wheelchair accessibility. But if you're hoping to learn something about the history of the Castle, don’t trust the park ranger’s presentation. In Arizona and across parts of the Southwest, some park rangers — like the one I encountered — have started replacing “A.D.” with “C.E.” (Common Era) in an effort to be “culturally sensitive.” Let’s be real: this is just another example of rewriting history to cater to overly sensitive people.A.D. stands for Anno Domini — Latin for “in the year of our Lord.” It refers to the years after the birth of Jesus Christ, not His death. Swapping it out for C.E. just to avoid religious reference isn’t educational — it’s a deliberate attempt to erase historical context to make certain people more comfortable. This park ranger didn’t just adopt alternative terminology — she blatantly replaced historical facts with a watered-down, agenda-driven version of events. That’s not teaching — it’s misleading. It’s a sad day when you can’t trust a park ranger to tell the truth to you or your children. It is completely unacceptable for someone in a position of public trust to rewrite history to fit a modern narrative. This ranger is in the wrong and should be removed from educational programs if this behavior continues.History isn’t supposed to be comfortable — it’s supposed to be accurate. Our children — and all visitors — deserve truth, not filtered fiction. Shame on the Arizona Park Service for allowing this kind of misinformation to be spread under the guise of education.

Rachel — Google review

One of my favorite national monuments in the Southwest. So much good information on the anthropology and ethnobotany of the Verde Valley. Plan on joining the ranger tour of the site for the best experience.

Nice short paved walk to see the site. It is a national park, can use your passes here. Nice visitor center with a store. Enjoyed the history, site and the walk. Nice clean restrooms and picnic areas

TL;DR: Montezuma Castle is a fascinating historical site with easy access, informational displays, and a short walk to stunning views of the Castle.Montezuma Castle is a really interesting place to visit if you’re in the area. It’s a short and easy walk from the visitor center to see the Castle, with plenty of informational plaques along the way to provide context and history. While tours of the Castle itself stopped in 1951, the displays and exhibits offer a great sense of what life there might have been like. It’s a quick stop, but the history and views make it worth the visit. I’m glad I took the time to check it out!

The North Rim of the Grand Canyon is a less developed area compared to the South Rim. It is only open from May 15 to October 15 each year, offering limited services such as restaurants, accommodations, and a campground during this time. The South Rim, on the other hand, is more accessible and open year-round with abundant visitor services and family-friendly activities. It serves as the starting point for main hiking trails and hosts ranger-led programs and adventure activities.

Mather Point is a popular scenic viewpoint located along the South Rim of the Grand Canyon. It offers stunning canyon vistas and is conveniently close to the visitor center. Yavapai Point, situated west of Mather Point, provides an equally breathtaking view of the Grand Canyon Village area. From Yavapai Point, visitors can admire various landmarks such as the Bright Angel Trail, Indian Gardens, Phantom Ranch, and even catch a glimpse of the Colorado River and its suspension bridge.

Perhaps the most iconic viewpoint of the Grand Canyon. Definitely get why some people say that. I honestly think this viewpoint gives you a bigger look at the canyon as a whole. Definitely cool to be able to see this and witness these amazing views. This viewpoint is within walking distance of the welcome center, so a nice walk around the viewpoint and then a nice stop at the gift shop

Unforgettable experience – a true highlight of our US tripThe Grand Canyon was hands down the highlight of our entire trip to the US. It’s one of the most awe-inspiring natural wonders I’ve ever visited. We started at Mather Point, which is an incredible viewing spot—you can honestly spend hours just admiring the view from there. From Mather Point, we began our hike along the Rim Trail, which took us about two hours to complete. The trail is easy to follow and offers constant views of the canyon, with plenty of photo opportunities along the way. The changing light and perspectives make every section unique. Highly recommended for anyone visiting the Grand Canyon—even if you’re not into intense hiking, this trail is a must-do.

Mather Point is one of the most iconic and easily accessible viewpoints at the Grand Canyon, and for good reason. The views are absolutely stunning, offering a vast, panoramic look into the heart of the canyon. It’s a great spot to catch sunrise or sunset, though it can get crowded during those times. It’s just a short walk from the visitor center, so it’s perfect for a first stop or a quick visit.

This was my first time visiting the Grand Canyon South Rin, and it was really magnificent and beautiful. However, it was very cold that day because of the strong wind and rain, and the altitude was high. I saw a rainbow here and there due to the water mist. It’s not easy to see a rainbow, but in a way, I was lucky to see one.

Blazin' M Ranch, situated in Historic Old Town Cottonwood, has been delivering an authentic Old West experience for over two decades. The ranch features a replica Western Frontier Town with various interactive activities like ropin lessons, shootin lessons, and a critter walk where visitors can interact with animals. Additionally, it offers cowboy shows, dinner theater, and chuckwagon chow geared towards families.

Had a blast. Food was excellent and they allow seconds if you are still hungry. Ribs fell off the bone. Before the show, the axe throwing, shooting gallery, and visiting the little shops was fun. The bar is open before and during dinner. The show was a lot of fun and was a mixture of comedy and a trip down country lane of music. The staff all work together well and take great pride in their work. They really care about the customer experience.

Blazin M Ranch was a GREAT experience! This was mine and my husband 2nd time visiting. This time we took our kids 17 & 15 and they both had a GREAT time. My son sang almost every song in the show. He loved talking to Tex west! We will definitely come back!!! If your looking for something to fun to say as a couple or a family this is the place!!! Thank You for the great time and very friendly place. Every single staff was amazing!

Rebecca B — Google review

We enjoyed our visit to Blazin' M Ranch very much. It's a fun, family themed entertainment. When you check in, you are given a meal tag with your table assignment and a tag notifying the serving line of your dietary restrictions. The cute Western "town" has plenty of activities to do before the dinner/show. The short tractor ride was fun and informative. The dinner is very well organized. Over 200 people were served very quickly. We were the last row of tables to be served and I was surprised how quickly our turn came up. The food is delicious. We were served mac & cheese, bbq'd chicken thigh/leg & pork ribs, prickly pear coleslaw, mashed potatoes with gravy, dinner roll and bread pudding. And every dish was delicious. The meat fell off the bone, the ribs were meaty, the mac & cheese was wonderful (and I don't normally like mac & cheese). What I found very impressive is how my lactose intolerant husband was accommodated. I had stated his intolerance on the reservation website (there is a space for dietary restrictions) and when he came through the food line with his restriction tag, he was offered noodles with no cheese. They had cooked a separate small batch of noodles. My husband said the noodles were wonderfully seasoned and delicious. The show was fun. It does not take itself seriously and is very entertaining. This is a true family business where people play multiple roles. The sales clerks and activity assistants and tractor driver pop up as servers and entertainers and even owners. At the end of the show, everyone is brought out and acknowledged for their hard work. That was very impressive. The Blazin' M Ranch has a lot of heart.

Alena L — Google review

Best experience at the Blazin M Ranch! The staff were absolutely amazing! I learned they are a family owned business and seem to have huge hearts in entertaining and serving people! Definitely a western experience worth visiting if you’re in town! Don’t miss it! Everything from the tractor ride, axe throwing, target shooting, games, dinner and a show made for a fantastic experience! Bravo!

Super fun experience all around . Pre dinner activities axe throwing , shooting , lasso and bull riding all super fun . Food was amazing and they even accommodated gluten free with a yummy chocolate molten cake for dessert too. Loved the show humor, laughs and all around great time

A slice of old west in modern day Cottonwood. We were in town to ride the railroad and found this place by accident and booked at the last minute. Just off the main drag this is a family owned place that basically breaks down to three parts: 1. It's an "old west" themed park with mechanical bull riding, a petting zoo, bb gun shooting, axe throwing and other games; 2. A BBQ dinner, and; 3. A musical show. The games are fun and kids especially enjoyed themselves. Adults have plenty to do too, including a saloon. The place opens at 5 PM and the dinner bell rings at 6:30 whereupon everyone heads into the dinner hall and are called by table to go through the chow line. Dinner consisted of BBQ chicken and ribs, Cole slaw, mac and cheese, mashed potatoes and gravy with bread pudding for dessert. There is a bar to purchase drinks and water, tea and lemonade on the table. After dinner the staff pick up instruments and put on a country themed show with lots of costume changes and a combination of serious musician-ship and cheese (think Las Vegas era Elvis.)It's a fun time for all ages and the food was top notch. I believe admission is about $80 for adults and $50 for children. There is plenty of free parking.

We visited from NC last week - we enjoyed the saloon & making our hats! Dinner was delicious! Overall it was great but to be honest - some of the artist tributes were butchered. Especially the acting of Chris Stapleton - that’s when we had to leave due to the acting. You can tell everyone tries & that it’s a family event - that’s where the energy is put in which is top notch. & geez. We know the owner is the ‘proprietor’ but he kept that word on repeat. We visited during the week so not really a crowd or wait

Couples & Family fun from a wonderful family run business. Food was good and better than other similar events we have attended in others states. The experience and entertainment was fun and enjoyable. We enjoyed learning axe throwing and BB gun range. The during the after dinner entertainment the Blazing M ranch staff had us smiling and giggling. The staff had the young kids participating in the event which created memories for the kids. The Blazing M also has some great entertainment booked on certain dates. Locals recommended this after we already booked. The recommendation was spot on. We were quite pleased with our night out!

Wildlife and safari park

Nature & Parks

Nestled near the Grand Canyon, Bearizona Wildlife Park in Williams offers a unique experience for visitors. The park features a drive-thru safari where you can see wolves, bears, bison, and more up close against the backdrop of stunning mountain scenery. Additionally, it provides a walk-through area to observe native Arizona animals. Visitors can also enjoy other attractions in Williams such as the Grand Canyon Railway and the Route 66 Museum before heading to the Grand Canyon just an hour away.

This is a spectacular place. It's much larger than I anticipated, and they have so many animals. The drive-through is amazing, and you get to be up close (safely) to many large animals that you wouldn't want to be in the wild. There's also a walk through zoo area and shows occurring throughout the day. The bathrooms are clean, and there are a lot of food options as well as gifts shops. This is definitely a must-see if you are in the area. I'd recommend 2 hours minimum to get to see everything. Also, it's very accessible. They have wheelchairs for use for free in the walk through area and shops.

Petting zoo had 3 goats who looked exhausted. It used to have pigs, chickens all sorts of animals. That was such a fun part now it’s so sad and not worth it. The bears/ wolves were cool. The staff was really really nice! Food 🤢. Loved the show!

B B — Google review

Me and my family had an amazing time here! We were looking for stuff to do on our way back home to California, and a friend recommended this spot. We got to see all the animals and we also got to walk through the zoo. Most of the food stands were closed though. It was fine. The gift shop was pretty nifty, and well priced. I hope to come again soon!

One of the best Zoos I have visited in quite some time. It’s a fun place to spend some time with your kids over the weekend. The ticket is a bit costly but I think it’s worth it. If you are having small kids make sure you have a good child lock in back doors as it’s a mix of drive through and a small area to walk. They have a very cool souvenir shop, do get some cute soft toys and a lot of good clicks. Don’t try to make yourself tired by covering it all instead just stay active till the time you can and enjoy the fascinating wildlife. Please carry water bottles and make sure you have used washroom before entering the drive. Sometimes it could be cars not moving due to a bear or a deer on the road so be prepared.

Arshi N — Google review

We loved visiting Bearizona! We did the drive thru area where we got to see many different types of wildlife, with some coming super close to our car. We then went and explored the park, and walked around looking at all the other animal exhibits. We purchased a hot dog, corn dog, and churros from the concession stand. The food tasted great and the prices were very reasonable. The gift shop is quite large with lots of goodies (yes we brought home souvenirs), and the restaurant is decorated with rock walls and very impressive. All in all a well worth while stop on our road trip home.

Ashley D — Google review

I love visiting Bearizona and appreciate the care of the keepers and the overall conditions of this facility. This is such a great experience for adults and children alike and you can even bring your dog through the drive through portion. I highly recommend visiting!!

Amber S — Google review

I'm thrilled to give this place a glowing recommendation! The array of beers is impressive, and the atmosphere is truly amazing. The wildlife exhibits are incredible, and the live shows are top-notch. The staff's friendly demeanor adds to the welcoming ambiance, and the food is delicious. Whether you're looking for a fun family outing, a unique date experience, or simply a chance to connect with nature, this spot is a must-visit. Highly recommend!

Visited today on the way to Winslow and loved it!! It’s a wonderful way to see animals in realistic habitats. Tammy was excellent and allowed us to see a baby reindeer born this morning. Such a special place with a great gift shop and extras!

Scenic Railroads

Nestled in the heart of Williams, Arizona, the Grand Canyon Railway & Hotel offers a delightful blend of old-world charm and modern amenities. This quaint property is conveniently located right next to the historic train station that has been transporting visitors to the breathtaking Grand Canyon since 1901. Guests can enjoy comfortable accommodations adorned with train memorabilia, making for a unique stay. The hotel features an inviting restaurant and cozy pub where you can unwind after a day of exploration.

This is a great experience. If you are traveling Rt 66 and haven't seen the Grand Canyon, you must do this. The cool part of this experience is that you can see the National Park Wonder and not spend a ton of money. The Hotel is fine, we had the 2 night package. Good pool and hot tub. Room was quite adequate. The restaurant part of the package was really disappointing, but that's not why you stay here. The train ride is great. We weren't traveling with children but the train ride and entire package seemed very kid friendly.

First trip to Williams and Grand Canyon. Nice staying on the same property as the railroad and restaurant. Good package deal. Beds were a little uncomfortable. But got enough rest for pour weekend excursion. Rooms were clean. Housekeeping was available upon request, but they did not come to the room everyday. Train ride was nice and scenic. Freedom bus tour allowed us to see the Canyon ( not the entire thing - which I don't know if it's possible in a weekend) . My family enjoyed the trip and would recommend it to others. looking forward to going back.

Lisa O — Google review

The hotel was good, Beds a little to soft. Needed more support. They had everything ready and where to leave luggage in the morning. It was convenient that the Railroad and parking were close by to the Hotel. Food at the Pub was just okay. Waiter was very nice. Chili VERY spicy. The other meal had little to no meat in it. Kinda like Shepard's pie. Mostly gravy, potato's and vegetables. Maybe 3 tiny pieces of hamburger in it. The train was very nice. Had refreshments on the way up. They went fast. Kids loved them. Singers playing instruments where very good and friendly. Also the boys loved the shoot out before the train left. Maswik Lodge was a ways away. But once we figured out shuttles we were good. Rooms and beds were much better. No issues. But the altitude is what got a couple of us. At 7000 Ft. it took us a couple of days to get accustomed to it. The ride back on the train was good. They boarded the train and robbed us. The boys enjoyed that too. Overall I give it a 9 out of 10. I would recommend it over driving to the Grand Canyon for sure.

This was our first time staying here, but I’m so glad that we did. It was the best way to go to the Grand Canyon via the train. We stayed at the hotel one night and the next morning we headed to the Grand Canyon via the train. We booked everything through The Grand Canyon railway website. It was super easy.We got the two queen bed , which it was great for my husband and I and my five year-old son. The rooms were very nice and cozy. Very standard room but very clean and had everything we needed. The only negative I would say is the Wi-Fi was very slow. The hotel itself is very charming and you basically feel like you’re at a train station because you see the trains outside your window and outside the hotel. The town next to the hotel is on route 66 so there is a lot of little charming restaurants and shops that you can walk to about seven minutes but we would drive and it was like a one to two minute drive. There’s also grocery stores around if you wanted to get stuff for your room there’s a Safeway, there’s a Dollar General store as well. It’s a very, very cute little area and very charming. When we arrived at 7:45 AM, our room was actually ready which I was very surprised about it and happy it was ready . we were able to go to our room and drop off all our luggage and then head to the depot across the hotel to get our boarding tickets for the train ride that heads out at 9:30 AM. And don’t miss out at 9 AM. There’s a wild wild West show that goes on before you get on the train. You don’t wanna miss it! I would get there maybe about 15 to 20 minutes if you wanna get seats.I would say this, all the staff from the train conductors to the train station ticket depot to the gift shop to the reception, everyone was super friendly and inviting and helpful. We didn’t get to use the amenities, but they do have an indoor pool and a gym. We also did not use the restaurants inside the hotel, but there are plenty of places to eat outside the hotel, which was great.Everything went super smoothly and we had a great time! I highly recommend anybody that loves trains if you have children or not, this is the best way to get to the Grand Canyon. stay one or two nights at this hotel and then take the train to the Grand Canyon. It was a lovely and relaxing experience.

Only stayed one night but it was very nice! The beds were super comfy and the rooms were nice and clean upon arrival. The actual hotel itself was very cool. We stayed for the Grand Canyon train ride and it was pretty nice. Mark was excellent! Definitely a fun ride for kids as well!

This place is fantastic! Marissa and Barbara at the front desk deserve a mention because they are so welcoming and helpful! If you want the best pie in the state ask Barbara, she will set you straight! This entire place makes a vacation effortless. They literally have every detail handled. The rooms are clean and comfortable. The amenities are perfect for anyone wanting to relax and see the beautiful state of Arizona. If you read this review and still have doubts about staying here you are not very smart. This place and the people who make it run are straight up AWESOME!

At some point, I have known of the Grand Canyon Railway and wanted to take that train when I visited Grand Canyon National Park. I wasn't aware there was a hotel associated with that train, until I poked around on Google Maps and found this hotel in Williams. I am very glad I chose this hotel and train ride package. I only stayed two nights, but that was long enough to take the train into the Grand Canyon National Park (South Rim). There are different options to choose from in your packages, so view them carefully. I did not choose the one with the buffet included, as the buffet had mixed reviews, plus there are other dining options in Grand Canyon Village. There are no words sufficient to describe the Grand Canyon; awesome is so overused, but this place fits that word. Please note, part of the price of the package including a train trip includes admission to the park; I was told I could use my cancelled ticket (which was first-class) to get admission to the park another day, which would have been good to know. (I would verify this as it may change by the time you book your trip). Anyway, it was a great experience, which I would love to do again, but for more nights.

The iconic sign near the South Entrance Station of Grand Canyon National Park is a popular spot for visitors to pose for photos. The staff and bus drivers are known for their helpfulness and friendliness. Winter is an excellent time to visit, as there are fewer crowds and it's easier to access various trails with full views of the canyon. Many people enjoy hiking the canyon, while others prefer to take in the breathtaking scenery at leisure.

Absolutely the most gorgeous park I've ever visited. So many sights to see and views to admire -- and not a single one bad. Late April was a wonderful time to go with few crowds, cool weather, and ample sunshine.

This is one of the most beautiful places in the world. From numerous viewpoints you can see miles of canyon expanding onto the horizon. The scale of view is so large it is almost incomprehensible. There are many unique species of wildlife to see here. The bus system is set up nicely so it is easy to navigate the park.

At the Desert Tower entering by a quaint town, Paige, it is well worth the sunset view. We arrived just after it, and it was still majestic to look upon. Dusk is when the deer are out and about, and traveling slow is strongly advised. Several people we ran into had packed a dinner, and some brought beverages to gather with family and friends, enjoying the view while the sunset.

Kara H — Google review

Absolutely stunning! I knew it was going to be big but nothing can prepare you for the actual visuals. The park is organized and has plenty of pull offs on the scenic drive. Definitely one of those parks where you could spend days exploring. We will be back!

We arrived about 6:30am on a Monday. This was definitely the best time to go, though by the time we left, parking was limited and we could not visit the village or visitor center by car. Lots of shuttles that run every 15 minutes. Well maintained, great staff, nice park.

Theresa S — Google review

One of my favorite national parks. I'd recommend staying in the park for this one because the sunrises and sunsets are stunning. It's also a dark skies park, so you can see tons of stars at night. Food was good too.

We were fortunate enough to explore the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park. It's hard to capture the sheer magnificence of the canyon in words; it truly pulls you away from the routine of daily life and immerses you in a realm that feels almost extraterrestrial. If you seek a more tranquil experience with fewer tourists and a greater variety of trails to discover stunning vistas, I highly recommend the North Rim over the South. We hiked the Cape Final Trail, which led us to breathtaking views of the Grand Canyon after just a few peaceful miles, surrounded solely by nature and devoid of crowds.

We went to the Grand Canyon in January with some friends. It was super cold—around -6°C—but absolutely worth it!We were staying in Prescott, so we left early in the morning and drove about 2 hours, stopping a couple of times for photos and at Starbucks for a hot drink. You pay a fee per vehicle ($35 USD, which was about $80 NZD for us). It covers entry for 7 days, which is great value even though we were only there for the day. If you’re going in by foot or bike, you pay per person. We got there around 8 AM, and there weren’t many people yet. Plenty of parking and toilets nearby. We weren’t even planning to use the toilets but went in just to warm up—they were clean and well maintained! There’s a short walk from the car park to the viewing decks and wow—what a view. It’s honestly one of the most incredible things I’ve ever seen. The Grand Canyon is massive and quiet. The experience was unbelievable, just amazed at how wonderful the grand canyon is, definitely see God’s hands in it. I was so beautiful…. We were freezing but pushed through to take as many photos as we could. Definitely a top experience on my list. Some friends have visited in summer and loved it too, just without the cold. But if you’re going in winter, make sure to layer up! If you’re visiting Arizona, the Grand Canyon is a must.

The store is known for its cool memorabilia related to Route 66 and features interesting items for sale.

A very cool stop on old Route 66. There is lots to see, things to buy and so many things to take pics of. If you like classic cars and old signs this is the place to stop. Also be sure to say hi to Charlie the cat! 🐈

This was a must stop for us on the rt.66 trip as its a historical stop and landmark. This place has so much historical things inside and outside, they have cold drinks, snacks, restroom and friendly people that work here. I really like how it was decorated and you can see that many people around the world came to visit this place just because of its historical presence. This place is a must stop on your rt.66 trip no matter what, support this place by getting something so thst it can stay open and alive for many generations. This place used to be a old gas station back in the day i believe and was renovated to become what it is today. I highly recommend coming here if your in the area as well and not just doing rt.66.

Wonderful place to get a taste of the Route 66 atmosphere, with rusty walls, stickers, license plates, gas pumps, old cars and much more. It can be reached with a quick detour from Kingman. Inside you can find food or different types of souvenirs.

I had a car breakdown near to this store. So I went to this store and the employee was very kind. He let me take some calls from his phone and during my waiting time I had a good time there. On my stay there I had a good conversation with the employee. I took a look around in the store and there are some nice old relics inside and cool cars outside the store. So if you pass this store on your way, take a short stop and look around in the store. You won't be disappointed.

Great little museum with lots of cars, pictures, antiques, an informative movie about Route 66 and the boom and bust that happened. It also has a very nice gift shop and well behaved dogs are welcome! I really enjoyed my time there.❤️

I arrived with only an hour before they closed, so the lady generously and surprisingly let me in for free. An hour was perfect - there wasn't much else to see more than that. Goes through the history of route 66, and then had a final exhibit on the history of electric vehicles and has tons of old ones.In my opinion, this wouldn't be worth the $10 on its own, but the admission also gets you into the nearby Mohave Museum (and Bonelli House), so it's worth it.

Nice museum, very informative about history of kingman and route 66. Has a big gift shop and lots of tourist info since it is also a visitor center. If you pay for museum here they give you a reusable pass that is also good at 2 other sites. The mohave museum and another historical house in kingman.

$10 to get in but it's a lifetime pass and you can also go to the Mohave Museum and the Bonelli House.Children 12 and under free family pass for $30 senior citizens $6. Points of Interest & Landmarks

London Bridge, originally built in the 12th century over the Thames River in London, was later replaced due to disrepair and traffic demands. In 1967, it was purchased by Robert McCulloch and transported to Lake Havasu City where it now spans the Bridgewater Channel. The bridge is a major attraction in the city, drawing visitors for walking tours and boat rides underneath its historic arches. Visitors can also observe remnants of the numbering system used during its dismantling and reconstruction.

This is a very fun place to walk, bike, kayak, or boat. There were lots of rentals available. We were there on a beautiful, sunny day!

Sharon B — Google review

This was our first visit to tour London Bridge at Lake Havasu AZ. It was easy to get there by GPS. There is lots of free public parking at the west end of the bridge. I visited London Bridge in UK several times so I wanted to see how was in AZ. I was saddened by the sight of it. It's almost unrecognizable due to the different environment. However it was a nice walk over part of it. You have a view of the marina and surrounding businesses. There is no fee. There are restaurants within walking in the area. We probably will not return here.

L. C — Google review

A really cool and unexpected piece of history in the Arizona desert!I loved learning that this is the original London Bridge from the 1830s, brought all the way from England and rebuilt here in the 1970s. It’s such a unique place to visit - the setting is beautiful, especially with the water and mountains in the background.I visited at the end of April, and the weather was perfect - warm but not too hot, great for walking around without the intense summer heat. Definitely worth a stop if you're in the area!

Unique area! Here for just a night, staying at the Home2 Suites. Beautiful to walk here from the hotel at sunset. It was a quiet night when we were there, but you could see that this place is set up for the partying boater crowd. Interesting history about the bridge, and how it came to be here from London.

Visited the London Bridge for the first time (3/27/25) the gift shop as well. It was quite a sight, we drove over it entering the area. Walked over it and went under it and checked out the marina and shops. I enjoyed my visit here. Stop by if you get the chance and bring the kids

Driving through and wanted to stop to see the replica of the London Bridge. It's beautiful structure. Parking is good near the visitor center. You walk through the iron gates to a fountain with lions. There is the visitors center with all kinds of helpful information, restaurants, shops. Quite the touisty area to explore. And you can get great pictures of the bridge. Neat area.

Very cool piece of history at Lake Havasu City! London Bridge in Havasu is the original London Bridge from England circa the 1830s, brought all the way from England and rebuilt here in the 1970s. It is a work of art in my opinion. Plenty of things to see and do around the bridge. Shops, Restaurants and gorgeous views surround this iconic piece of history. Definitely worth a visit.

Don Laughlin was an avid car collector and anyone who appreciates classic cars will enjoy visiting this place. There are plenty of classics from the 50’s and 60’s and rides that go as far back as the early 1900’s. Some of the vehicles have considerable history as mentioned on the plaques.Everything in here was well organized and cared for. It was a nice, quiet area to get away from the flashing lights and noise of the casinos.

We love looking at old cars. This museum did not disappoint. The 'free' part has a few cars and a lot of old slot machines which were cool. The 3rd floor part, which you pay for ($5.00) was worth it. The exhibit changes on a monthly basis so you never know what you might see.

Enjoyed coming in and seeing the large collection. If you sign up for the players card entry is free. If you don't, its still very reasonable. Lots of cars and photos and models!

Phenomenal cars on display. I fancy myself a car person, but he had cars in there that I have never even heard of. Teared up a little reading the 911 Memorial Car. Fell in love all over again seeing the Corvette's from the 60's. Just so many beautiful American machines. The staff here were so great. They let you know that you are allowed to take plenty of pictures, the answer all questions you have, and we had a lot, lol

I have almost zero interest in cars, but my husband convinced me to visit because there's a DeLorean from Back to the Future—one of my all-time favorite films. I went along begrudgingly… and ended up absolutely loving it! The Car Museum is so much more than just cars; it's full of fascinating stories, nostalgic displays, and beautifully presented vehicles. Even if you're not a car enthusiast, there's something here to enjoy. Highly recommended! Also the gentleman in the small Museum at the front was fantastic, he had such great knowledge and interest.

Really cool museum! If you are in the area, like history, classic cars, or both, you will like this! Two things to keep in mind for your visit:1. While there is a small showroom on the main level, the largest showroom is on the third floor. Head to the elevators that are near the Fatburger.2. You MUST be either 21 or older to enter or with someone who is older than 21. If you are unable to meet this criteria you will be refused entry.Hope this helps someone!
